Prompt Packs offer themed collections of journaling prompts for topics like gratitude, mindfulness, and creativity so you’ll never run out of inspiration. Each pack guides you with prompts you can browse, save, and complete at your own pace, helping you stay inspired every time you open Day One.

After updating to 2025.19 of Day One for Android, you’ll notice a new Prompts tab in the lower toolbar. Tap Prompts to get started.

With Prompt Packs, you can:

  • Browse and answer prompts from any available pack in the new Prompt Gallery.
  • Add packs to your My Prompts library to personalize your journaling experience and link them to specific journals.
  • Track your progress with a visual meter showing how many prompts you’ve completed.
  • Hide unwanted prompts so you see only the ones that inspire you.

Prompt Packs are currently available in English. If your device is set to another language, you can still try them by toggling the feature on in Settings > Labs.

We’re excited to announce a faster, easier way to log into the Day One Web app: QR Code Login. This new feature simplifies your login experience while seamlessly integrating your encryption key for full account security. Available for both iOS and Android, it allows you to scan QR codes on the web or a secondary device for a seamless login and automatic encryption key transfer.

If you haven’t tried the Day One on the web yet, now’s the perfect time. With QR Code Login, accessing your journals is faster and easier than ever.

Why Use QR Code Login for the Web?

  • Quick and Simple: Log in to Day One Web by scanning a QR code with your mobile phone.
  • Secure Encryption Key Sync: Skip manual entry—your encryption key is automatically transferred during login. Your Master Key is securely encrypted during transfer, ensuring that our servers never have access to it.
  • Cross-Platform Compatibility: Works seamlessly with both iOS and Android versions of the Day One app (versions 2024.25 or higher), and for both free and Premium accounts.
  • Prevent Account Duplication: Ensure you’re always logging into the correct account.

How to Use QR Code Login

On iOS

Before you begin, make sure you have a device that is currently logged into Day One. Make sure you’re running Day One 2024.25 or higher.

  1. Visit dayone.me/login on a non-logged-in device, such as your desktop or laptop.
  2. Use your phone’s camera to scan the QR code displayed on the web login screen.
  1. A confirmation modal will appear. Tap “Log in” to confirm.
  1. That’s it! You’ll be logged in, and your encryption key will securely transfer automatically.

This release adds a new sign out flow. After signing out, the app is now reset to a fresh install. New checks and dialogs were added to the sign out flow to notify the user if any local data hasn’t been backed up to the Day One server before completing the sign out.

Fixes

  • Fixed an issue with syncing while the app is in the background.
  • Fixed an issue where and entry would not appear correctly in “On This Day” after manually updating the entry date.
