It is possible in our iOS and Web apps to create entries by sending an email to Day One. When you enable this, each of your journals has an individual email address to which users can send emails for creating entries. This feature is exclusive to our Premium plan. This feature is not yet available on our Android and Mac apps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To begin, tap in the iOS app to Settings > Email to Journal<\/em>. In the web app, tap Settings > Account. Under the Integrations section, find Email to Journal. There is a link to save the email as a contact. When you save a journal email to your Contacts app, an image is automatically placed in the contact with the Day One logo and the color matching the specific journal color. Then email that address, and a Day One entry will be created.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Email entries will work with encrypted journals.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n

Emailing an entry does support the same Markdown options we currently support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Enable Supported Attachments (Web app)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In the Web app, you can enable image attachments in Settings > Account, scroll down to Integrations > Email to Journal > select a journal, and toggle Include Images<\/code> setting on. Image attachment settings can only be turned on via the Web app.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Currently, journals can receive and store image attachments<\/strong> sent via email in the following formats:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • PNG<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • JPEG<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    Note:<\/strong> Non-image attachments will be ignored and not processed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
