(Optional) Configure Advanced Settings.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Tap on Advanced to apply advanced options like concealing the content from your journal, enabling or disabling comments, sorting options, and options for hiding the Shared Journal from &#8220;On This Day,&#8221; &#8220;Today,&#8221; or in Streaks. Add members to your Shared Journal.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>On the next screen, you can add members through a unique invite link. Tap the copy icon, then share this invite link to approve up to 30 members. Just note that the link expires in 14 days. Approve member requests.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>After sharing invite links to your journal, you&#8217;ll be able to approve and decline member requests. You&#8217;ll see these journal requests in the Notifications section. Go to a Journal, then tap More (&#8230;) at the bottom right. Start writing!<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>To start your first entry in your new Shared Journal, tap the &#8220;+&#8221; icon. <strong>Remember, your private and Shared Journals are always kept separate, so you always know when you&#8217;re sharing an entry.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you&#8217;ve published your first Shared Journal entry, it will show up in the timeline view for the Shared Journal. Add your comments to engage in conversations, provide feedback, or simply express your thoughts and feelings about an entry. Tap the copy icon, then share this invite link to approve up to 30 members. Alternatively you can tap <strong>Share Invite Link<\/strong> to share the link via another app on your device. Tap the copy icon, then share this invite link to approve up to 30 members. <strong>Just note that the link expires in 14 days<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you did not see the next screen to add members or if your journal has already been created, you can find the unique URL in two ways:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Go to your Settings (tap on the gear icon located at the top left corner). Select Journals, then click the shared journal you want to invite family and friends to. Under the Journal Sharing section, click the button that says &#8220;1 member&#8221;. The Timeline view will show the date of the entry, the entry\u2019s author name, a preview of any media added to the entry, along with any reactions and a comment count for entries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-6-share-your-comments-and-reactions\">6. Share your comments and reactions.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Shared Journals allow you to comment and react to entries. Add your comments to engage in conversations, provide feedback, or simply express your thoughts and feelings about an entry. Reactions are a quick and easy way to show your appreciation or emotional response.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Note: If you\u2019d like to disable comments in a shared journal, go to the journal settings, tap&nbsp;<strong>Advanced<\/strong>, and then toggle off the&nbsp;<strong>Enable Comments<\/strong>&nbsp;setting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-7-reflect-revisit-and-continue-adding-new-entries\">7. Reflect, revisit, and continue adding new entries.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally, beyond just creating initial entries, plan to regularly contribute new moments and stories to your Shared Journal. It\u2019s private!<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Journals, by nature, are intimate spaces to process thoughts, feelings, experiences, and ideas. Choosing to share your journal or keep it private is a personal decision. There are various reasons to consider sharing a journal, as well as strong reasons to keep it private.<br><br>Over the years, we\u2019ve heard from a lot of Day One users who would like to be able to share one of their journals with a spouse or family, a small circle of friends, or a therapist, teacher, or mentor. So, Shared Journals are a new Day One feature to bridge this gap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Are Shared Journals secure?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Shared journals have all the same protections as your Day One personal journals.&nbsp;The only people who can access a Shared Journal are the people you invite to them. All Shared Journals are <a href=\"https:\/\/dayoneapp.com\/features\/end-to-end-encryption\/\">end-to-end encrypted<\/a>.&nbsp;Even Day One can\u2019t access your journal or any content within your journals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How can I be sure I won\u2019t accidentally share something that was meant to be private?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>We\u2019ve designed Shared Journals so it will be obvious to you when you\u2019re about to share something that others might see. For example, when you\u2019re creating a new entry in a Shared Journal with more than one member, you\u2019ll see a banner indicating the people who will see it. When you move an entry into a shared journal with more than one member, you\u2019ll see a warning message asking you to confirm the action first.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Do I need a Premium membership to share a journal?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Yes, you need a <a href=\"https:\/\/dayoneapp.com\/premium\/\">Day One Premium<\/a> membership to create and share a journal with others. However, others can participate in your Shared Journal for free without a Premium membership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Can I share a single journal entry?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Only journal entries created in a Shared Journal can be shared, and only with those that you invite to the Shared Journal. Journal entries in your personal journals aren\u2019t shareable, but you can copy the journal entry into a Shared Journal in order to share.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Can I share or publish a journal entry to the web?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>No, Shared Journals only allow sharing within Day One, not to the web. Those you invite to a Shared Journal will need to have a free Day One account to access the Shared Journal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Will my Shared Journal be available on all my devices?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Yes, if you are a Premium member, your shared journals will sync across your devices just like personal journals do. Right now, Shared Journals are available for iPhone, iPad, Android, Mac (in <a href=\"https:\/\/dayoneapp.com\/releases\/introducing-shared-journals-on-mac-beta\/\">beta<\/a>) and Day One on the Web. As a Premium member, you can type or add unlimited photos, videos, audio recordings, drawings, and files. If you\u2019re a free member, you can add entries, including one photo per entry to the shared journals (free members cannot add videos to an entry). While there&#8217;s a 30-media-per-entry limit for Premium, and one photo for Basic free users, there&#8217;s no limit to overall number of media attachments you can add to the journal. You can also add comments and reactions to shared entries. Even if you\u2019re a free member, you\u2019ll be able to open and view everything that everyone else shares with you in a Shared Journal \u2013 photos, videos, audio, and all.&nbsp;Everything you add to a Shared Journal is end-to-end encrypted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Can I convert my Personal Journals or Existing Journals into a Shared Journal?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>No, existing personal journals cannot be directly converted into a Shared Journal. However, there are steps you can take to share your journal entries with others, such as copying or moving entries from a personal journal into a new Shared Journal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How many Shared Journals can I have?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019re Premium, you can create as many Shared Journals as you want!&nbsp; If you\u2019re a free user, you can\u2019t create Shared Journals, but there is no limit to the number of Shared Journals you can be invited to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Will I ever see ads in Shared Journals?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Absolutely not! We\u2019ll never show ads in your journals. Day One will always be an ad-free, private space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What if I invited someone to my Shared Journal but now I\u2019ve changed my mind?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>As the owner of a Shared Journal, you can remove someone from your journal at any time. Journal participants can comment on entries, but not edit the content of an entry they did not create.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-can-i-move-an-entry-from-one-shared-journal-to-another\">Can I move an entry from one Shared Journal to another?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Entries in shared journals cannot be moved:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You cannot move your own entries out of a shared journal.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You cannot move entries from one shared journal to another.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-are-shared-journals-encrypted\">Are shared journals encrypted?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Yes, your shared journals are protected by encryption. Only users you have invited to your Journal can decrypt and see the contents of the entries. It&#8217;s important to know that the key used to decrypt each journal, whether it&#8217;s a shared journal or a private one, is unique. This per-journal key is then protected by your personal Day One encryption key. You will never need to enter a separate encryption key for a specific journal; you always use your personal key.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Important:<\/strong> Never share your Day One encryption key with anyone else, and only enter your own encryption key in your own account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-can-i-merge-two-shared-journals-together\">Can I merge two shared journals together?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>No, due to the unique permissions on shared journals, there is no way to merge two shared journals together, and entries cannot be moved out of a shared journal into another journal. The only way to merge two shared journals would be to manually copy the entries from one to the other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-troubleshooting-shared-journals\">Troubleshooting Shared Journals<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-i-can-t-add-members-to-my-shared-journal\">I can&#8217;t add members to my Shared Journal!<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If you&#8217;re unable to add members to your shared journal, please try the following steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Ensure that you have a Day One Premium account<\/strong>. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Check for App Updates<\/strong>: Make sure your Day One app is updated to the latest version. Sometimes, issues like these are resolved in newer updates.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Network Connection<\/strong>: Ensure that you have a strong Wi-Fi connection and try toggling your Wi-Fi off and on again, or switch to mobile data to see if the issue persists.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Restart the App<\/strong>: Close the Day One app completely and then reopen it.
